Lawyer, author, mum. Raising awareness for breast cancer awareness month - Thursday 7 October 1:00pm

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Emma is on a mission to raise awareness of the importance of checking yourself and taking prompt action if anything feels out of the norm.

Emma is a Chartered Legal Executive working as a Regulatory Legal Officer for the Royal College of Nursing. She is also a Non-Executive Director of the CILEX Professional Board.

Lawyer by day – representing nurses, she is now an author by night – inspiring patients!

In her self-published book ‘Take my hair (but not my humour): One mum’s journey seeing off breast cancer’ she shares her ‘Bridget Jones’s Diary’ style journey through breast cancer treatment to hold the hands of others going through similar life changing experiences.

Emma knows her work helps those affected by cancer, including loved ones wanting to offer support. Her work pays it forward as Emma has chosen to donate to her local FORCE Cancer charity with each sale of her book.

She will be sharing her personal story to highlight what its really like to receive a breast cancer diagnosis out of the blue when she’d only just turned 40, had returned to work following maternity leave and was mum to a 5 and 1 year old.

She shares the highs, the lows and everything in-between.

She also shares how dealing with such a diagnosis opened her eyes to life, how having worked on her mindset had a big impact on how she dealt with her journey and how looking back over the past 12 months she can hardly believe what she has achieved!

Lastly, and most importantly, she’ll be sharing tips on what changes to look for as after all that’s the important message to take away from this event.

Emma acknowledges that this is a very sensitive and emotive topic which may closely resonate with some watching. Follow up supportive links will be sent to all those attending.
